Bandsaw blade for green wood....opinions please

    Hi All

I've found 3 blades made for cutting green wood. All are 3/8: 3TPI alternate set with raker, I beleive. So my question is which is the better blade? Any others that you like better and why?

    1) Highland Hardware's woodturner's blade
    2) Carter Accuright Green Wood Blade
    3) Timberwolf

I have a few small logs (13" in diameter) that I want to mill into lumber and blanks.

    TIA,

    George

George, most likely any of those would do fine. The difference that I see between milling green versus dry wood is that the green wood produces much larger shavings, and you will want a lower TPI blade with a large gullet as opposed to the dry wood blade.

    Thanks Scott,

Since I'm also ordering Carter guides, i'll keep my shipping costs down and give the Carter blade a try

I've had good results with the Timberwolf AS. Can you use a wider blade than 3/8" for the ripping cuts?

I would suggest the first one on your list .

I have only used the timberwolf, but I can highly recommend them.

I like the lenox diemmaster blade, seems to last longer than the Timberwolf.

I use the 3/8 blade from Highland Hardware. It is made by Sterling Saw Blades. I have been really impressed with the blades. They are .032 thick and strong.
