    Maple burl in color

This is a maple burl HF from a burl that my brother in law gave to me for Christmas. He has given me a maple burl for each of the past 2 Christmases. What a nice guy!

This one measures 6.5" in dia x 4.5" in height. Danish oil and buffed. I plan on applying a few coats of Shellac and possibly WOP

    C & C welcome

Very nice work. I like the contrast of the sapwood with the burl.

Looks like you were really lucky that top stayed on and didn't bounce off your head!

lovely piece..like the shape and the light areas..the contrast is small in area, but big in appeal.

Very nice piece, but I agree with Richard.

Thanks for the comments. I agree that the top looks a little precarious. With the defects and the orientation of the grain, the top could fly at any time. It felt pretty solid, but I did wear a face shield, as usual.
