    Jet 15 inch planer rehab

    Hello,
A couple of years ago, I was given a Jet 15" planer that had been stored in a Vermont barn for several years. I had thought about unloading it, but ultimately decided to fix it up. I have removed the rollers and the cutter head and the new Shelix head should be arriving soon. I have become proficient using an Evaporust bath to deal with rust, but I was hoping to get some advice about removing the top casting that houses the rollers, the cutter head and the anti-kickback fingers. I have loosened the screws that secure the casting to the four vertical posts, but I am not sure what else needs to be done before I can remove the casting. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have never work on a jet planer, but most of the one that I have seen look like the early Delta 4 post planers. There is lots of good info over on OWWM on rebuilding the Delta, could be similar in the way thy come a part. Tom
