It may be regional but, the Ace hardware near me is way over the top on pricing for most items. I haven't gone back there in over a year. AceOnline on the other hand seems pretty competitive.

Many T12 bulbs are obsolete, getting hard to find, and therefore prices are up.
I just purchased a 10 pack of T-12 bulbs for my son at the orange borg for $19.97. They were Philips bulbs. They had a large bin full of 10 packs, so there doesn't appear to be any shortage.
