    Minature planter box

I laser cut some pieces for a miniature planter for my wife 14" long x 1" high and 1" deep, the material thickness is 1/8". It did burn a bit but is going to get painted, I am still learning about the setting on my Trotec laser.

For bonsai? just kidding, good work. You may could add some fingers at the joints to strengthen. As far as the burn, you should be able to remove quite a bit of it with a toothbrush and some Simple Green (it would likely help with the painting).

    Chris,
I didn't think about using finger joints, it would have made it much easier to glue up.

You might try using Orange Goop (waterless mechanics hand cleaner) to remove some of the surface char if it's too excessive.

Test on a piece of scrap first.

Or you could vector cut the ornamental design and apply it with glue. Much faster and cleaner.

Masking the part with transfer tape before engraving saves hours of cleanup time.
