    Hinges for log boxes question

I've made some small log boxes [from limbs that were about 3 inches in diameter and 4 inches long] from a sycamore limb. The walls are only about 1/4 inch in thickness. I was thinking of making the hinges for the lids out of a couple of pieces of leather [say 1/2 inch wide by 1 inch long] .

I'm looking for some suggestions on attaching the leather hinges to the wood. I have some E6000 industrial strength adhesive. I have Gorilla glue and of course plain superglue.

Also, thought about taking some brass screws, filing down the heads to smooth, drill some holes, put on a brass washer, and peen the screw, washer, leather hinge together.

Any suggestions or help, greatly appreciated. lewis
