    Arts and Crafts Sofa Table

    Hello all,

    Here's an A&C sofa table I built with a good friend, in part as a wedding present for him and his lovely new wife. The design is from the March/April 2003 FWW, but with a modified lower stretcher/shelf. The 1/4 sawn white oak is from the Columbia River Gorge and the secondary wood is hackberry that I milled from a local tree with a friend. LV pulls. Mix of hand and machine work.

    The finish is BLO, shellac and wax after fuming. The finish process is described here:

    Thanks to folks who provided feedback on the lower stretcher modification (I have a sketch up file if anyone would like it).

    I conspired with my friend's wife to sneak it into the house while he was out, had a beer with him and then returned to enjoy his surprise. My new favorite delivery method
