Thread: Puzzling Tillotson Rip Saw

I'd say the nose heavy is a universal feel - keeps you reminded that the english saws get a push and the american saws get more of a dig at the end of the stroke. I can get used to either, but levering an english saw up like a western saw is definitely a little harder.

Backsaw.net is the best place to ask questions 'bout English saw history. Simon Barley hangs out there for example. Check out http://www.backsaw.net/forum/index.p...577/#post-3498 for some extra details.

    Cheers

I think the very upset woman who wanted to paint a landscape on your saw was David's mother!!!

My mother generally doesn't paint saws, because it adds too much to the price of her goods (not kidding!!). She can get tinware at auctions for $1 a box.

Thanks for the additional resource Peter. Much appreciated.

George and David, I am very glad to hear that it was not David's mother that I upset!
