    Wood Safety

I was recently told by a fellow woodworker that several of the scraps that I picked up were unsafe to use as materials in toymaking. I have small pieces of Mesquite, Bodar (sp) and a yellow wood with swirling black lines in it (not sure what it is) I have been told that I should wear a mask when sanding this wood as it can be poisionous when breathed. I am a toymaker and would appreciate any information you might be willing to share. I certainly do not want to make any toys that are not safe for children.
