Powermatic PM2800B Drill Press Experiences ???

Anyone have any experience with the Powermatic PM2800B drill press? I guess the"B" stands for version 2.

From what I can gather, the original was less than desirable but the new andimproved version is ????

    Thanks,
    JimE

    Thanks Eugene.

I spoke with a factory rep at Woodcraft the other day and he said they did have some issues with the first version but they have addressed them. He said some machines were fine and others, not so much. I happy you were on the "fine" side.

My main issue with my Delta and most others I have seen is quill slop. Every thing is fine with it retracted but when you get it extended 2-3", I grab it by the chuck and you can hear and feel the slop when moving it side to side. You can see it move when the bit starts in the material. Especially metal.

It would be nice if there was some way to adjust it out but there isn't.

    Thanks,

I have had one for about a year. Best drill press I have ever owned. No complaints at all. The variable speed works perfectly, no run out, quiet and powerful. I think there were many complaints with the original version, not with the "B"!!
