    Replacing spindle shaft

    Hey all,

I have a PSI 12" Turncrafter Commander lathe. The spindle shaft wobbles pretty badly. I'm pretty sure it got bent or damaged in some other way during the move from Minnesota to Virginia, because it was in much better shape (still not perfect) prior to the move. So I ordered a new spindle shaft and bearings from PSI, and they came in the mail today. Has anyone ever replaced the spindle shaft in their lathe before? Have any tips? Thanks!

    Rich

Use the search function, just saw a thread 2 weeks ago I think. Be specific with your search though.

    Cheers,

Taking the shaft out should not be hard, it has to be at least partially removed to replace a belt. Removeing and replacing the bearings also should not be too hard. I replaced the bearings on my Jet 1642 fairly easily, but I had good instructions from another creeker's post.

Thanks, Thom. I found the post you're talking about and it was very helpful.
