    Odd CL Find

    http: // washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/tls/4793716273.html

Description is "30 custom made wood clamps of various sizes in wood box. Made and used by expert woodworker."

I am not an expert woodworker, so maybe I'm missing something. Can anyone figure out what these would be used for? The design seems... compromised... for the types of things I clamp.

Violin makers sometimes use these to glue the top/bottom boards, using a lot of them all around the edge of the instrument. You don't need a lot of pressure from any one clamp. There are more sophisticated clamps for the purpose, but these are cheap and easy to make.

I've made a dozen or so myself for stringed instrument repair, mostly re gluing loose tops and backs.
