Making a hall table, about 36 wide and 14" deep. Body of table is walnut, mitered to fit around two small drawers. The walnut is 1" thick. Legs are "iron hair pin" that attach throuigh a 1/8" thick L-shaped plate.

Question: simple method attach with screws--3/4" penetration into walnut bottom, total of 12, three at each corner. Have #14 pan heads of the right length. Alternative: attach with through bolts, no. 12, with flat heads laboriously countersunk in interior, connection through the leg plates with lock washered bolts.

Question is: how important is it to use the through bolted method as opposed to screwing the legs on?
