75 exotic species on my table

These are all spindles 2"x2"x6" long.

There are just a couple domestic species in here. The vast majority are exotics and many are fairly obscure. To me anyway.

This is one box out of my haul from a deseased turner yesterday.

One of his major projects was to turn eggs from as many species as he could find. He made it to just over 1100. His goal was to have show off the wood and grain of all these woods in an easy to hold and feel form.

I'm not sure what I'll turn from these 'extras' but I'm sure supplied for awhile on this size stuff.
The wood is all labeled and noted - many with the botanical Latin name as well as the common name.

That is a wonderful haul and a great opportunity for you to experience many different types of wood.

As you turn them please make notes on how each wood turns. This could help a lot of other turners.

Interesting thought. Maybe some of the rarer ones won't have many notes available easily on their characteristics.
