Stumped by my Oneida DC remote control

    Hi,
I have an Oneida Dust Gorilla with the factory installed remote. It stopped working and I ordered the replacement fob and receiver. I put the new one in, changing one wire at a time so that I would not put a wire in the wrong place. I have compared my wiring with the diagram several time, and even been on the phone with the folks at Oneida. The remote will not start the collector, but has no problems turning it off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    John

    John,

I'm curious how you are starting the DC without the fob such that you found out it will turn it off?
    Wood: a fickle medium....

Did you know SMC is user supported? Please help.

    Hi Chris,
The magnetic starter on the DC has "on" and "off " buttons. Those work just fine. So I turn the collector on with the "On" button. If the remote was working correctly, then both the buttons and fob would turn the DC on and Off.

A contact closure is required to start the collector. So it will be 1 of the following:
    - the remote is not transmitting a start command
    - the receiver does not receive the run command
    - the start contact in the receiver is bad/not closing
    - there is a wiring error.
There are quite a few wires coming out of that receiver & it would be easy to make a mistake connecting the new one. I think that is the logical place to start. Try jumping out the start lead manually to see what happens.
