    Blue Mahoe Vase

Got this wood in a trade. It is the National tree of Jamaica. It is rare to find a piece this large. I turned a vase because the center was pretty punky. The "sleepy" look of the grain is pleasing to my eye.
It is 7 3/4 by 6 1/2 inches, sanded to 600 with kukui nut oil

Very nice piece George. "Sleepy" was a good description.

Boy, that is a big piece. I've turned several small hollow forms of the stuff. Very, very rare.
