Picky question. I have a Milwaukee 6373 worm drive saw and the online manual for it says to use Milwaukee worm drive oil and mineral spirits to flush. I've only seen this oil as mail order. However, in nearly all forums that deal with worm drives of any make seemingly knowledgeable folk say just use the readily-available (HD, etc) Skil 80111 oil in any mfr's saw, which is what I'm using, and they recommend flushing with kerosene, which is what I've done. My question is why kerosene? From another forum, they say:

Is 80111's gear oil organic or mineral/synthetic? Regardless of that, does the small % of tallow oil make 80111 need kerosene? I don't understand all the science, but worm drive mechanisms and brass & bronze need specific oils & solvents for long life. This saw is over 30 years old, but it runs like a champ and was US made so I want to keep it going for as long as I can. I could order the Milwaukee oil, but like I said, I've only seen folk online recommend 80111 for any mfr.
