    Dust collector - 115V or 230V

I'm looking at purchasing a dust collector for my woodshop. There is a good one on Craigslist near me but it runs on 230V, which I don't currently have in my shop. I could add it but it'd take a 1/2 days work to add it. I'm wondering if 230V is preferred over 115V for a dust collector? The dust collector I'm looking at is the Jet DC-1200, and it is 230V only. I would have to purchase the Jet DC-1100 for one that could run off 115V.

    Thanks

It's CFM is the same regardless of the motor voltage.

True, but you can get a bigger one if you're willing to run it off 240V. A normal 120V outlet will only support about 1.5HP. If you go 240V, you can easily do 2 or 3 HP.

Go into the world and do well. But more importantly, go into the world and do good.
