Jorgy Clamp breaking?

I had a 36" HD Jorgy break on me the other day. Actually the casting just cracked. I'm not sure exactly when it broke, but I was putting it away and noticed a hair width crack and then two other paint cracks. Ended up grinding a gouge and welding it with nickel rod and DC welder. We'll see how it holds. I checked a couple other of my clamps and didn't see anything bad..... Anybody else have this happen?

Probably a rare flaw. I'd bet ACC would warranty it. But then again they aren't ACC anymore so who knows. I have many, never a crack.

Yep, I had the exact same failure on one of mine about 3 yrs ago. It was more than a crack, clean break under tension. The clamp was probably about 5 yrs old at the time. For fun, I was going to TIG it when I had some time and see if it would hold; but alas, it still sits somewhere in a corner of the shop. It's a "roundtuit" thing, I should probably just pitch it if I ever find it again
