    Deleting files in Microsoft Word

Can someone tell me how to delete files that are in Microsoft Word? I deleted the file itself, but when I click on Microsoft Word, and then click "file" at the top left of the screen, The old file shows up. I clicked on that file that I deleted and it basicaly said that the file was not available. That I know because I deleted the file. What I want to know is how do I delete that old file from the section that says "file ", at the top left of the Word screen?

    Thanks ,

    "Tools" tab - select "Options"

    "General" tab
"Recently used files list:" Uncheck Box or change entries to zero

Another way is to open and edit X more fies, effectively pushing your unwanted file name off the stack.

There is a utility program out there called Window Washer that does a great job of cleaning up the MRUs and a lot of other places people like to poke into to find out more about you.
