Water-resistant finish for plant stand

I'm completing a plant stand made of mahogany and walnut.
Anybody have any suggestions for a finish? I'd like something that's somewhat water resistant, without looking like it's encased in plastic.
A wipe-on finish would be best, if that's possible.

Try Arm-R-Seal or Waterlox Original Sealer Finish Original Formula.

Both are wipe-on varnishes. OSF is clear and dark amber.

ArmRSeal has a polyurethane resin but won't look like plastic unless you build up ~6+ coats.
