Thread: Trotec Speedy 300 from 2007, worth it?

  1. #16
What was that setting Mike, was it the tickle? Or was it in the tuning? I can't remember.

I'm not at my machine but I don't believe there is a tickle adjustment available with this Coherent tube. In fact, the only machine I ever changed the tickle setting on was an old dinosaur Epilog--so old that the table moved in the Y axis instead of the gantry.

The newer versions of JC added things like job time estimating, photo engraving settings, HQ engraving and many others that my simple plastic engraving doesn't require.

That's it Mike, that's what it was. No tickle adjustment.

That must be a Trotec thing, my Explorer has a Coherent tube and does have tickle adjustment.

I think that's just that era of machine. I remember talking to Mike when he was trying to do something, and the tickle seemed to be the solution, but he didn't have control over it. I think it was related to the board, not the tube. I'm guessing it's a legacy board, but that's just a guess. I suspect tickle adjustments came shortly after that.

The Trotec tech told me this particular Coherent tube didn't have tickle adjustments. That may not be accurate but he implied that the other tubes had the adjustment.

There is a record of how many hours the laser had been firing, in addition to how many hours the machine was on.
I forget exactly where you access this info in the software - settings?
If the tube has been replaced this info may not be completely accurate although it would still give an idea of how much use the machine really had.

I believe that can be found under the view menu in the job history folder. I believe that history is lost when you upgrade JCX unless you figure out how to copy and save the file.
