    Latest turnings using shop scraps

I decided to just 'play' in the shop recently and use up some scrap wood that was just laying around.

The first object is a combination of walnut and a chunk of flamed box elder.

I am not particularly fond of the finial but I wanted to incorporate a piece of the box elder. It was just too soft to turn real thin, even after applying ca glue to stabilize it while turning.

The second object is what I am calling an 'elevated cherry burl bowl'. The bowl part is a chunk from a much larger bowl blank that cracked during the drying process last winter. The base and stem are standard cherry.

Dick, you need to clean out your shop. Pack up all those scraps send them to me and I will take care of them.
The elevated cherry bowl is beautiful.
When working I had more money than time. In retirement I have more time than money. Love the time, miss the money.
