    Ornaments, chip carved

Merry Christmas to all insanely jolly woodturners. Wishing an even merrier Christmas to any who are not yet quite insane!

Chip carved in Basswood, finials of Redheart and English Walnut.

So light weight, no hollowing needed. However, calculating, laying out the grid, and carving more than makes up for any time savings. :-)

    Very nice. Simple and elegant.
I may have to dig out my chip knives ...been about 20 years since the last usage.

Thanks! I just started learning chip carving a few months ago with the goal of carving on turnings. Good clean fun! (once I got the knife sharpened properly)
