    Cleaning bandsaw table

Started cleaning the table of the used bandsaw I bought. I put some penetrating oil on it and let it sit a couple of hours. Then I scrubbed it a little with a generic scotch brite pad. It will need more, I am guessing sanding is next. Would I use wet/dry sandpaper and what grit?

The first tool I use is a single edge razor blade holder. The kind used for cleaning windows. Use it in conjunction with the penetrating oil or WD40 or a degreaser or window cleaner. The main thing is to be careful about scratching or digging into the surface.

If there is pitting once the rust is scraped off, then use something to neutralize the rust in the pits. Then use sandpaper. Many use a ROS to finish the process.

I flood the table with WD40, then RO sander on top of a green or grey Scotchbrite pad. Repeat as many times with fresh pad as needed. Rare that actual sandpaper is required, IME. Best of luck with it.

What Erik said. Always works for me.
Eventually the pad will get eaten up but they're easily replaced.

I clean the sludge off with brake cleaner between sandings.

2 coats of Boeshield and you're done!
