    Shipping tips?

Are there any shipping tips that anyone can share to reduce cost?

I have been looking for a specific RAS motor that is not made anymore and have contacted a few people around the country who are selling the whole saw, for generally $150-200. I just want the motor but shipping would be about $60 (box size 18x18x24, 30lb; quoted by USPS and UPS) which is usually about 1/3 the asking price.

Does anyone have any shipping tips?

I know having a business shipping account can help.

Not as much as it used to. Amazon and FedEx are subsidizing their low rates to Amazon by gouging us little guys. IMHO.

Greyhound is good for large heavy objects that are not time sensitive. Pick up and drop off at your local bus station, so requires a willing party at the other end.

Roger, thanks for the greyhound suggestion. I never knew they did shipping but it sure makes sense. Looks like it would cost $45 for the same package and estimated shipping times aren't bad either.
