    Creeker's Weekend Accomplishments

    12 Oct 2015
    Good Morning Everyone,
I can't brag on the weather we've been having enough. I really love the cool mornings and moderate temps in the afternoons. The weather has been good enough for me to get in the shop and get the primer and paint on the guitar body. This week, I will wet sand it down a bit and then start the clear coating. My hope is to have the body finished this week so it can cure for a couple of weeks before I put the hardware on it. Needless to say, I am getting excited about nearing the end of my very first guitar build project.

That's it for me, so what did YOU do this past weekend?

Best of weeks to you all.
    Thanks & Happy Wood Chips,
    Dennis -

Speaking of cool mornings, I took advantage of the cool temperatures and cloudy skies Saturday morning to fasten down some flooring in the workshop attic.

Saturday afternoon was dedicated mostly to honeydews, and the evening to watching the Tide's defensive line play. The offense arrived sometime during the third quarter.

Sunday afternoon involved gluing up a panel for a shelf and clothing hanger for the laundry room (one of the honeydews), making holes in the workshop ceiling for electrical boxes to mount some additional lighting, and some aimless puttering.

LOML and I went to visit my mom for the weekend and took her to her hometown to visit with my sister on Saturday. My goal was just to get her out of the house for something other than a necessary errand, which is all she does these days. We had a nice relaxing time. I was also able to run a few errands for her.

Didn't get as far as I had hoped on completing the neverending coffee table project, but I did make a little more progress. After finishing the rough prototype with a stain and poly combo product (Varathane), to give to my daughter for use in her first apartment, I spent the remainder of the weekend assembling and then fitting the drawers for the real table. Talk about a painstaking process--using a block plane and sandpaper, a lot of time and a few choice words from my golfing lexicon to get a smooth fit. There's about 1/32 of play from side to side that causes a little binding when the drawers are close to fully extended, but that should be taken care of after a final sanding and then finishing and applying a little paste wax.

Thursday, loaded and set up one building for Campers on a Mission at Ftate Fair. Loaded laundry building late Thursday. Made biscuits Saturday morning to take to FIL's as wife's brother was in town. Then the flood gates opened. Rained all day, so nothing was done on COM project. Carried dinner to FIL's, which we do most Saturday evenings. Sunday set laundry building, and took #3 & 4 grandsons to lunch. Worked on hooking up WH, ice maker, sink and laundry. Came home and CRASHED!

Was able to finish assembly on this little shelf/cubby thing. Will probably paint it but not even sure what I'm going to do with it.

Then yesterday, I threw this shop stool together from a 2x4 and a couple scraps laying around the shop.

Nothing too spectacular but had a great time in the shop.

PS: Mike, that table is coming along very nicely.

Thanks, Aaron! I like the stool you built as well. I've got one of those on my to-do list somewhere, once I finish this table. Now that I've given the prototype to my daughter, the LOML has been reminding me to get it done and put in place.

Not a lot of work got done this weekend due to some physical issues I'm having, but I did manage to cut up some dead ash trees to supply friends with firewood and spray finish on a small picture frame that was recently completed in the shop in my copious free time.

I'm really looking forward to the culmination of your guitar project, Dennis!

Got some good work done on my studley tool chest replica. Nearing completion of the oilstone box and drawing out the profiles of the graduated chisel handles.

Thanks, Brett! I'm working my way up to bureaus and high boys, and figure I may be ready in another ten years or so

Late to the party on this, but...
-After entirely too much fiddlearseing around, I finally got out home Internet connection and WiFi working properly.
-Poured some 'crete to level a sunken corner of the garage
-Worked on a monster trapezoidal solar screen to cut down on some of that Colorado solar gain
-Aaaaand finally assembled and mounted the extended table I built for my 14" bandsaw. It extends the little 14" x 14" table to 26" wide and 22" deep and has a Kreg fence on it. I have it set up so I don't lose any cut depth and with the removal of two bolts, I can tilt the table 45 degrees (well, okay, more like 38 degrees with my current dust collection setup. I know, I know...no pics, didn't happen. Pictures are NEXT week's project.
