Looking at buying this lathe. I know its about 10yrs old but the price is 2k dollars. My question is, worth it or not?? Comes with a vicmarc chuck.

The 3520A is made in America......everyone of those I have heard of has been a workhorse. If it is not abused or worn out, and has been well cared for, you will have a fine machine on your hands. If it were me, I would try to negotiate the price down a couple hundred $$$.

My first 'real' lathe... The first few models were made in the USA, but not long after they were made over seas. I got mine about 98 or so, can't remember. Think it cost about $2750, and it was the first one to come out of the new Woodcraft store here in town. I got a deal because I was going to let others try it out. If it is in good shape and clean, unlike how mine was when I sold it, with the chuck, that is a fair price, especially considering the cost of a new B. The variable speed knobs do go out after a while, and the off/on switch as well. Low range speed was 1500, and high range was 3000. You could slow down to almost 0 rpm for sanding. At that price, it won't last long.

If it's in good shape that's a bargain.
Someone else has already bid 2k so I cannot negotiate down.
Buy it. They are very good machines, I have had one for 6 years.
what I know about the 3520a is there are some weaknesses in a locking pin and a hinge point if I am remembering right, they cured them bugs in the b model.
