Crushgrind Peppermill Sounds Like Turkey Call - Your Opinions?

Just finished a crushgrind peppermill in ash and it squeaks like a turkey call. Have not had that problem with the others I've done in maple. Would a coat WOP or using a finer sandpaper on the inside help? Perhaps I should sell it as a twofer - you're buying a peppermill and getting a free turkey call. Your opinions please?

The squeaking sound is normal! I just put a little wax on the top and body joint.
I would like to see a pic of the mill.

Yep, just wax the mating surfaces between the top and bottom sections and you should be good. For what it is worth, I do this as the last step in all the pepper mills I make.

No, it's not thin enough yet.

Thank you Scott and Peter. This remains a fantastic site for gaining knowledge from those with experience.

If it's turkey season where you live, you might give it a try. Who knows, your peppermill may actually be a two-fer.
