    Smile Econo (cheap) drill bushings

The fixtures shown required some form of drill bushing, wasn`t thrilled with $150+ for the real thing.

Hopefully these "Hillman" spacers from Lowes ($.095 each) will fill the bill for this "less than production" jig.

Nice looking jig. What are you making with it?

    Good idea.

Real drill bushings are hardened and have a small clearance for the drill for precision.

But for a jig that won't get a lot of use and doesn't require extreme precision, those spacers are cheap and easy to get.

Try to limit side loading as much as possible for best life.

The cheapest and most useful hardened woodworking drill bushings i have found are here:

I think they are the same as the one's Lee Valley sells. Lee Valley appears to offer metric sizes. If you need a lot of them, HFWilson is cheaper last time I looked.

^ Fixture is for repop ( a.k.a. fake ) Nelson wall clock dials. I figure that with a small amount of finesse , it should last for the 10-20 pieces that I have planned. Thanks for the input.

    Happy `16
