    Dowelmax Question

Can the dowelmax position a dowel in the end grain of a 3/4" x 3/4" piece of wood and on the side of a connecting piece of 3/4" stock? I am thinking about some simple frames using 3/4" stock with butt joints and dowels.

    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Yes. You can use the registration pin to register one side relative to a hole and the fence at the stock setting. I believe these two settings will get you to the center of a 3/4" piece. If it doesn't, you can use washers as shims.

Yes, that is how I did all of my kitchen uppers and they were Hickory ply. 4 dowels per 12" joint. And as long as you register off the same side (outside edge) you don't need to be dead center.

This is how I would set up the Dowelmax for end to face joints:
