Using a Magswitch AND double sided tape?

I am making a jig that absolutely positively can't move even a little bit during a bunch of cuts. A magswitch might work, but it can be nudge a bit. I am thinking that if I put thin double sided tape under the magswitch it would become imperturbable.

Aside from having to get the tape off my bandsaw table when I done, am I overlooking any reason this is not a good idea?

Sounds doable but, I would be tempted to just clamp something in place if at all possible.

Okay, maybe more detail is required. I am cutting 8 arches that all have to be identical. I have made a board with a hole drilled in it, and will use a magswitch in the hole as a pivot. Screwing the 8 pieces to the board and then rotating through the bandsaw blade will give me what I want, as long as the magswitch doesn't move at all.

Yeah, clamping the pivot might have been better, but I already have the board set up for the magswitch. Speaking of which, why the heck is the magswitch hole 1.57". What is wrong with 1.5 or 1.63"?

When I do that sort of thing..... on a much smaller scale of course, I create a template, cut close, then use a router with a pattern following bit to make them exact.

Sounds as though you are better off making a circle cutting jig for your bandsaw to cut these arcs which will be a more versatile long term jig. Plywood platform and a pin would be more stable and not move during any of the repeatable cuts.

magswitch hole 1.57" may be metric, since it's barely shy of 40mm.

Must be a metric size. 4cm is 1.5748".

Wade, there's nothing wrong with 1.5" or 1.63".

What's wrong is you're using the wrong measuring system, the Magswitch uses a 40mm hole for mounting.............Rod.

I guess I need to buy a 40mm forstner bit. I drilled 1.5" and sanded to size.

The tape and magswitch worked fine. A circle jig would have been a better idea, but I had already sanded the 40mm hole and couldn't walk away from that.
