    jet 16" 1642evs lathe

just bought a Infinity nova2 chuck with various jaws. question. do you have to insert a set screw thru the chuck into the 1 1/4 x 8 adaptor? For the life of me I cannot find that and cannot get Teknatool (?) to respond to my email. Help PLEASE...''

Talked with service department, very responsive (John), you must use the set screw when turning in REVERSE....

Yes you do. There also should be a small pellet looking thing to help stop the insert from coming loose.

Good lathe, I have one. Congrats!

Some chucks have two places for set screws. One locks the insert to the chuck body. I always install and tighten this one when I install the insert. The second, if present (and some inserts don't have them), is a hole in one of the flats of the insert. A setscrew here can lock the chuck to the lathe spindle. I don't normally use this one but I would if turning a heavy blank in reverse.
