CSBBQ 2005 has ended - pics

The Central States BBQ for 2005 has come to an end and many if not all of the attendees have arrived back home by now. Many THANKS to Terry Hatfield and Cheryl for hosting another wonderful BBQ.

I had a lot more fun at this BBQ since I wasn't working behind a Tormek most of this time this year.

Here is a summary of what went on:
Friday night was the informal gathering with burgers and brots served at supper. Many showed up on Friday and we all had a really nice time talking shop and catching up on how each person was doing outside the shop.

Saturday began with breakfast at Susan's Rest-ee-raunt for a real good down home breakfast. Then it was on to Terry's shop for fun, wood, demo's and door prizes.
    Handcut Dovetails by Jeff Hamilton
Discussion about teaching kids woodworking and general box making by Doug Stowe. Doug brought some of his books and many were sold at the BBQ. Thanks to Doug Stowe, we all know how to make Barbie Toilet Paper and TP Holer now.!!

Door prizes were drawn and here is about all I can remember:
Vega donated a very nice Pro Miter Guage.
Terry Hatfield donated a very nicely restored Stanley handplane.
Jeff Hamilton donated some of his really SWEET marking guages. If you use a marking guage or are in the need for one? Get one of Jeff's marking guages. Those things work VERY nicely. I'll be posting a review of his marking guage in a future post as well as have the review on my personal web site.
Mark Cothren donated a very pretty spalted Pecan bowl.
Keith Outten donated a Corian Cutting Board. Very nice work Keith and THANKS for the donation.
Stainless steel center finder rulers from Lee Valley were donated.
Air hose and tool drawer matts were donated by Ed Baer.
Dale ???? donated some very pretty curly Red Oak.
A Porter Cable Sander was donted by ??????
Thin Kerf splitters were donated by MicroJig, the makers of the GRR-Ripper.
    And....I feel like I'm forgetting something...but I can't remember what.

Doug Stowe brought several of his boxes for us to look at and boy were those ever Beautiful...!!!!!

It was Briskett and all the trimmings for lunch on Saturday and a great feed was had by all that attended.

John Veercamp (sp?) brought several of his turning for display.

Mark Stutz brough a couple of very pretty boxes that he made for the show and tell.

Dale ???? brought one of his flag display cases for show and tell and another display of fine craftsmanship.

Those that attended: (as best as I can remember them)
    Terry Hatfield
    Mark Cothren
    Dennis Peacock
    Steve Clardy
    Jeff Hamilton
    Larry Browning
    T.J. ?????
    Ed Baer
    Dale ??????
    Zahid Naqvi
    Mike Hanna
    Jack Deimer
    Doug Stowe
    Mark Stutz
    John and Sue Veercamp
If you attended and I forgot you in this list, PLEASE jump in here and remind me of any others as I'm only going from memory.

Here are a few pics. I'll post the boxes shown by Doug Stowe in another thread.

Thanks for all those that attended and even to those that intertained the idea of coming to the BBQ. A special THANKS to all those that donated to the door prizes for the CSBBQ 2005.!!!!

  5. Thanks to Terry and his family for hosting us all this weekend! It was GREAT!

Thanks to Dennis for getting Doug Stowe there to show us his work and talk to us a bit. That was GREAT, too!

Thanks also to Dennis for donating the rulers and some other things that I'm probably forgetting. Tracy made some delicious cookies that just about everyone gorged on!

I'll add a few pics that I took...

Here is one of most of the group on Saturday:

There was some deep discussion going on here... not sure exactly about what - maybe some to do with Daffy?

  6. Terry H doin' what he does best...

Jeff H workin' on some dovetails for us...

Elvis was sighted cookin' up peanut butter and banana sammiches on the grill...

  7. Dennis workin' on a handcut dovetail...

    Dennis, Terry and Steve Clardy...

  8. Steve trying to figure out how to build a spiral staircase on this thing...

Well, SOMEBODY had to be in charge - so Jack Diemer stepped up to the plate... or couch, that is... I think he was just wore smooth out from sharpening all those plane irons...
