    Pool table refinish

Hi all, I just got a pool table and it needs refinished. The side rails are severely chipped showing the wood below the stain. Obviously touchup to the stain is necessary. What should I be concerned about when stripping the finish off? My next question is, how do you tell what finish you are trying to remove? I'm told the finish is probably pre-catalyzed lacquer? If so is there a special stripper available? with the feeble attempts to dissolve the finish it seems impervious to the box store strippers. Thanks in advance

Get the Jasco brand stripper from Lowes and or Home Depot. It's in a copper color can.
