    Sirius XM radio

I just received an e-mail from Sirius XM radio indicating they want over $200 for radio. These fees are ridiculous.

That's a crazy price for home use where you could have access to internet radio options for much less money. It is great for the car if you do a lot of travel, although many new car radios have an option to play MP3s. I ripped all my 80s rock onto a memory stick and have them in my latest car. I see no need to upgrade to any of the newer stuff being passed off as "music".

Nah, my wife gets hers in 6mo intervals for $25. I got a slightly higher level for $30 for 6mo.

It certainly isn't inexpensive and I keep thinking about cancelling due to the cost. However, I'm in my car enough it is almost worth it. Over the 11 years I've had an XM, now SiriusXM, Radio in my truck, the costs seem to have gone way up and there are now lots of alternatives with players and connections to my iPhone, etc.

Holy cow. That is expensive for the subscription price. How are those other people getting 6 months for $25-30. I thought that the best rate was around $270 for a 3 year term.

Count me out. They gave me a free introductory offer for my new used truck and there is no way I'd pay for this service.

The "Select" package is their middle package in terms of channel availability so there is a cheaper (but limited) package available for $131.88.

The trial package on my recent new vehicle expired two weeks ago. They refused to budge even though I have been a Sirius customer on multiple vehicles through the years.

My brother was in a similar situation - his trial expired two weeks before mine. Last week he received an e-mail offer for the Select package for $99.95 + fees (about $119 complete) which he accepted. I called Sirius back and asked why I couldn't get the same package. They said "no problem - we'll quote you the same" which I acccepted.

I hate doing the yearly song and dance but when you're a lot of travelling the mp3/ipod route gets boring.
"Don't worry. They couldn't possibly hit us from that dist...."

I can see this if you are on the road a lot. There was a lot of programming to choose from that's for sure

I just call them and negotiate a lower rate. I can do without it for $218. They cut that in half for me this year.

I am very leery of auto-renewals. I had a software subscription on my computer and received an email statement for a 12 month renewal for $90. That seemed higher than I had originally payed, so I went to their website and could start a new subscription for $40. Thankfully they hadn't run my card yet, and I was able to cancel autopay and resubscribe.
