A bit of rust. Handle was in great shape..

This is as it came out of the package ( and it even cut the package a bit...)

I wire wheeled the rust off the hoop. About all I have done to this BIG chisel. Measures out at 1/2" wide.

Haven't found any markings on it, as yet...

Have found no markings on this chisel, so I have no idea whom made it. Fellow picked it up in Okinawa, then sold it on that auction site.

Handle has zero cracks in it. Hoop is a tad loose...a few days in this Ohio weather should cure that?

Chisel does seem razor sharp.....

Handle seems to be bare wood, suggestions on what to apply to the handle? Doesn't seem right for it to go around "Naked".....

The japanese style of chisel is rather new to me.....not sure just how to maintain one of these. I doubt IF I have the "proper" stones to hone this thing up.
