    Rather odd turning

This lidded bowl was mostly turned last year but sat around waiting for inspiration. I decided to give it a Sci-Fiction theme. Big Leaf Maple except for the finial and base of pedestal, it is 15 inches tall from base to top of finial. The bent finial is supposed to imply acceleration.

Comments and critiques welcome (especially about the finial; not sure that I like the result as much as the concept)

I like it. Think it is better as a serious heroic allusion to space travel than a whimsy; so the antenna should be straight.

Creative and nicely done Dennis. Here's something to put on the bucket list to give some other tools in the shop some exercise.

That's cool! What was your process for the hole pattern in the rim?

Bruce; I used a micro carver (rotary electric tool) with a small (1/32") endmill.
