    Jet 1221

I looked through and saw some older reviews on the Jet 1221.
I sold my Jet 1642 last year. I have a Jet 1220 and a couple older lathes.
I miss having the slow speed and the variable speed of the 1642.
You guys that have the 1221 ran into any downfalls of the lathe?

    Thanks
    Dave

  2. One of the clubs I am a member of has a 1221 Vs, and it has been doing great for about 18 months now. It has power and torque for a small lathe, and is fairly heavy for a midi as well......we have the stand for it also. I did see a new Jet 18/40 model, in one of the ads in the AAW Journal recently, which has more swing than your old 1642. Pretty nice unit, if you are interested in getting a full size lathe again. Ebay has them listed for $2999.99

Hey Dave. I had a Jet 1221vs before i stepped up to a full size lathe (G0766) and i thought it was a great midi-size lathe. There was no noticeable spindle runout, the tailstock and headstock lined up perfectly, and as mentioned it has pretty good heft for a small lathe. I was able to turn 11" diameter bowls on it with no problem. I only sold mine to defray the cost of the larger lathe.

    Thanks for the replies.
I still have a couple bigger lathes.
I have just been turning lots of smalls.
And miss the variable speed and slow speed for finishing.
    Thanks
    Dave
