Since we're kind of on saws and files and saw IDs, I'd thought I'd throw out this question. Here's a Disston 16. It's 22", 12 ppi. From what I can gather from Disstonian Institute looks to be from 1896-1917. The medallion though, says Phoenix Warranted. Can't find that on the Institute site.
Can anyone give me some insight on this medallion.

It's definitely a #16, but somewhere along the way someone replaced the medallion with one from an EC Atkins saw. Atkins made a line of second quality saws marked "Phoenix".

Thanks Pete. Does explain things. I had read something about Phoenix and Atkins, but I was hoping Disston might have thrown one on theirs as well at some point.
