The recipe I posted earlier from Jeff Jewett, homestead finishing, does provide a thin coat of linseed oil after the dye. I think it does seal the dye and gives it a sheen. I would add a coat of shellac after the oil. I think they recommend a thimble full of oil per square foot and you rub it in briskly and immediately wipe it off. I usually skip the glazing unless I want it dark.
