I've had a Link Belt on my Bandsaw for 14 or 15 years now. Is there a time when it's just to old and should be replaced?

Does it still work? If so, leave it alone. They will last a LONG time if not over tensioned.

Still works. I just wan't sure if there is a life expectancy on these type belts.
I think it'll either break or start making funny noises when it's time to be replaced.

HF carries the green ones, which are cheaper to buy than the red ones. Both kinds are made in the USA. Don't forget your 20%% off coupon.
I guess I'll just wait until it breaks.
Or replace it with an AX (cogged/notched) when it fails. Supposed to be the same benefit as a link belt - not prone to taking a set - maybe not as noisy and cheaper. One place the link belt does shine is if there is significant disassembly required to change belts.

I must say that this is one heck of a compliment to the longevity for the link belt use. I have one on my 1950s KingSeely (Craftsman) drill press. Sure did make a difference.

Different name. How about this?

They stretch a bit over time. Take a look and consider tightening if it's loose. If it's otherwise in good shape, I'd leave it and replace it when it fails.
