Exclamation How to Attach Images Inline

    How to Attach Images Inline,
or, What You've All Been Waiting For (tm).

    1. Start a New Post.

    1_1.jpg

    2. Click on the Paperclip (or Manage Attachments), and
    upload your pictures as usual:

    1_2.jpg

    3. Now, click on the little Arrow next to the Paperclip. You will get a drop-down list of all images available for you to attach inline.

    1_3.jpg

(It will insert an "ATTACH" tag, as follows.).

    ...and VOILA!

Ah, cool, just tried it on a previous post: you can move the attachments around after the fact.

OK, I'll try this and see how brain dead I actually am!

There should be a picture of an extremely fast Porsche Turbo.

    BeachSurfer.JPG

And, above this line, should be a picture of the general area where that particular Porsche calls "home"!

If this works, it's really pretty slick!

    Question 5 picture limit

There used to be a limit of 5 pictures per post. Is that limit still in place?

Dang it! Is that something "built-in" to the app or is it something, which can be controlled at the Admin. end? It's not often that I would personally do more than 5 pics, but I have had occasion where it would've been nice.

Can't we get rid of the limit? It certainly is going to be a pain when we start to put together our shop tours.

    Hey Aaron:

    After seeing this thread - http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=83897 -
can we deduce that the 5 pictures-per-post limit no longer applies?

    Jeff,

If you right click on any of Mike's pictures you will see that they are being hosted somewhere other than SawMill Creek. There is no limit in threads to how many links you can make, that is how Mike got so many pictures in his post. We still have a five picture limit per post.

The down side to uploading your pictures to another host is that in time they will disappear and the links will cease to work. Pictures hosted here on our server stay here for everyone to enjoy. Note that some woodworking forums delete posts and pictures after only 30 days and some don't allow pictures at all. Our archives here are valuable to everyone here and will be to woodworkers yet to come.

Is there a way to get the full sized images to show in the posts, instead of the thumbs?

Clicking on each one of the thumbs and getting a pop up can be a pain....

I was going to ask the same thing...I don't prefer the thumbs, either. But I see you answered it.

FWIW and I don't know if/how this works on the Mac side but, if you want the thumbnail full-size pics to open in a seperate browser window, simply depress your "Shift" key while clicking on the thumbnail. Alternatively, right-click on the thumb and click on "Open link in new window". This helps to prevent from closing up the main thread window by mistake. (DAMHIKT!)

I'm not a big fan of the thumbs either. I'd much rather wait the few extra seconds for the full size images.
