    Vicmarc 300 chip shute question

I am getting back to building out my vicmarc 300 lathe stand.

I have a question for vicmarc 300 owners with the vicmarc stand. Vicmarc has a chip shute under the ways of the lathe. Chips that fall between the ways fall down the shute.

I am leaning towards adding a shute to my lathe stand. I was curious if vicmarc 300 owners find this shute useful.

    Thanks
    Michael

    Michael,
I made my own stand for my VL300 longbed lathe and wish I had added a chip chute. It is not a huge problem because of the opening at the base of the lathe, however, it sure would be more convenient.

    Dave,

Thanks for your input, the notes that you sent me from your build has been very useful. I will post pics when done.

    Thank again,
    Michael

I think it is useful on my VL300, but I don't think it is a deal breaker. When I am turning, the majority of the shavings don't go between the bed ways. As long as you can blow out from underneath the ways every once in a while with the air hose, I would say you would be OK.

No, it's not thin enough yet.

I like the VL300 chute, it makes clean up very easy.
