Long time reader - finally creating an account

I have been silently lurking around here for a year now. I thought it was about time I create an account and say hello.

    Looking forward to future posts!

Howdy Kurt and welcome to the Creek.

Welcome, welcome Kurt. We like photos of dogs and shops, but the best are photos of dogs in shops. Oh, maybe a few project photos would be OK. A quick reminder that forum rules do not allow new account holders to start any sharpening threads at all. You will be advised when it is OK to do so at some point down the road. Please do not try to break the rule. Please.

You are, however, allowed to search the archives for the oldest thread you can find and then respond to the Originator with a question. This is traditional for new members. You get extra points if the thread is so old that the Originator hasnt visited SMC in more than 6 years.

But absolutely no sharpening threads until advised otherwise.

That is how new people find this site, searching the net for a specific topic then they find a group as weird as themselves!

I just finished up a large credenza for a friend of mine, and am moving on to a bookshelf. I'll post pictures soon.

That would likely diverge into whether it was a regular #2 pencil or a flat pencil. Then there would be some insisting it should be a #3 pencil and others cheering the benefits of a #1 pencil.

Oh, and some would argue the benefit of a "mechanical" pencil as a guide
