After reading the disheartening replies to my original post and also after missing a local PM I offered the slabs on craigslist at $450 and a local woodworker replied within hours, came and fetched the wood the same day and seemed pleased to get the wood. He even gave me $460 in twenties and did not ask for change. He thanked me profusely. He said he had about 100 walnut slabs and showed me some photos of his work on his cell before leaving for home. It was time the wood was put to use.
