    Fan quandry!

Here is the problem -I have a Patton 18" high velocity fan which is my salvation when I have work to do in my sauna(garage). The fan blade decided one day to shatter. I now have a perfectly usable fan motor, fan housing, wiring, control, but no blade assembly(?). The company no longer sells parts. What to do? I am a person who hates to throw away something that is 90 0/0 perfect because the other 10 0/0 is kaput. Where does one find a replacement. Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks

Can't advise on your old fan, but can tell you what to get if you can spring $60.

We have 4 of these, 2 chrome, 2 black, seem same thing otherwise, best bang for buck after alot of digging. Marc

Good tip. Thanks Marc. How do you place these in your shop for best ventilation, without blowing everything around - one at each corner?

Shattered how? Into little pieces or break along a stress crack? Photo?

It's rare I have a mechanical breakage I can't fix one way or another. If without the equipment/experience maybe a friend can fix it.

Re the old fan - I did use Krazy Glue brand gel in the $1 tiny tube for a plastic icemaker shaft that had snapped.

First tried PVC glue on another spot, absolutely no effect.

I'll try to report back in a few days if that shaft repair stayed.

Frederick - we don't use all 4 in shop.

First off, we have a small me and 1 helper shop, w 2 of them we move around depending on task.

The third one lives in my LR, and the fourth one has served 1 1/2 yrs now as whole house duty very nicely mounted in a house window in a sleeve box w screens, winter slide in shutter, little roof over it,etc.

They seem to last pretty good, and definately move a lot of air on HI, and kinda sometimes too much on lowest speed.

Dang, just get one and play w it.

You'll use it somewhere, probably get another for in house.

    Highly recommend. Marc

And as long as we're talkin fans, if anyone wants a whole building exhaust fan, best quality and overall value we found is J & D Mfg. out of WS.

Marketed primarily to the Farmer, they are rugged, at a fair price.

Pricewise, best dealer I found was Global Industrial. Marc

Grainger sells replacement fan blades, some are quite expensive. Depending on your requirements you might be better off with a new fan.
I’m also a “keep it going as long as I can” guy but sometimes I have to throw in the towel and replace.

I too will milk some things for every drop of service I can render out of them. I will add that Lasko is the "Foster Grant" of inexpensive fans. If that analogy doesn't work for you, I am essentially saying that they have made a science out of the inexpensive fan market. There are a lot of fans at their price points that are poorer but, few that are better. There are certainly more expensive fans that are not as good. They are not great fans, they are a good fan for a very cheap price - heaters too.

I have been running the earlier versions of this and this for many, many years. Buy them at the end of the season at Lowes or Costco and get them stupid-cheap. Good warranty service. A heater failed after the warranty period ended and they still sent me a new one. They have given service several times longer than their longest surviving competitors. I'm not saying they are for everybody but, they have surpassed my expectations time and time again.

P.s. The Foster Grant analogy refers to the cheap sunglasses company. They made a science out of making frames that fit "most" people comfortably right off the rack. Depending on your age you may remember the "who is that behind those Foster Grants?" ad campaigns.
