I'm still looking for a truckload of this stuff! It's such a joy to turn, even smells nice. Finished with Watco then buffed, 5"T x 5"D.

Absolutely beautiful!
Gorgeous, Travis! What is the collar - ebony, blackwood? I need to get one or the other of those to make a collar for a spalted piece I have, but not sure which to order. I think the African Blackwood may finish better but not sure.
Carole, the collar is Ebony. I have some African Blackwood, but haven't tried it yet. The Ebony almost polishes itself while turning.
Beautiful wood and execution, Travis.

I've been doing some hollow forms lately, but your's is spectacular. Really love the ebony collar. I formerly used collars to hide mistakes, but people like them better so I have been doing them whenever possible

Travis, you're killing me here ! How do you keep producing such wonderful pieces !?!? You're about to catch up with Jim. This one is stuning.
Another nice one Travis! One of the first bowls I turned was Myrtle. It does smell nice!
Great piece Travis! How thin do you try to get the walls on your hollow forms?
Oh Yea! Very nice Travis!
Lots of stuff going on with this one and I love the Form!

Thanks everyone. Chris, I usually end up with a wall thickness of around 1/4", sometimes a tad less, sometimes a tad more. I feel satisfied with 1/4" thickness and don't try to push it further.
Looks like I missed this earlier...Glad I got a chance to see it! I really love that form Travis! By any chance, do you know where Myrtle grows? I got some Pink Myrtle and I don't know anything about it.

John, from what I know of it, it's really California Laurel/ Bay Laurel and grows along the Oregon coastal region. I might be mistaken, someone correct me if I'm wrong on this. I've gotten a few chunks from the online auction place .
