While visiting my daughter in Duluth, MN, I spotted a relatively large burl on a small branch of the 80’ Blue Spruce in her front yard. I roughed it out when I got home – it was my first coniferous turning, and was proving as sappy and stringy as I’d heard it would be. This weekend I finish turned it, and was surprised how cleanly it cut and finished. The burl was about 8” dia on a 1” dia branch. Finished is about 7”.
