    Dresser Project

Want to replace the old dresser with one made using the #55 plane; first need to decided on wood type.
    Plans are in the works.
I am a carpenter but used to trim, kitchen cabinets, cut roofs, deck and fence design and such. Design is not a problematic but next to the work at this site I am ruff lol.
What is a good soft wood for a build using hand tools?

I would recommend soft maple. If you plan on painting it I would use Yellow Poplar. Both work easily with hand or power tools.
